What are we teaching our little girls?

Last week a friend had this picture posted on his facebook page. I was so upset by this. It's interesting how many comments he got on his page but when I shared it, no one commented. But whatever. The comments on his page were that of shock and disbelief. I then shared it on my twitter and a lot of my followers asked me if this is something that was real or just a joke. I'm pretty sure this is a real product. I searched for it but I really couldn't find anything about the manufacturer.

But what makes me so sad is that there are some mothers out there who actually bought this for their daughters thinking it was cute.  Really? is this something you want to give a 6 or 7 year old as a gift?  What are you imparting into that child by sowing this gift in her life?

Being an exotic dancer is NOT all it's cracked up to be.  Sure the money may be good, in the beginning, but that "high" soon wears off.  You may remember the movie "The Players Club"....yea that movie was real. That's what it's like. Jealousy, backstabbing, abuse, you name it.......It's so much more than just taking your clothes off for money. Sure that's what happens at first but if you get stuck in it long enough, you will be doing more than just taking your clothes off.  Prostitution happens about with about 1 in 4 dancers.  Alcohol and drug abuse also are a part of that lifestyle. Having to deal with sick & perverted men day after day, night after night, really takes a toll on you. Let's not even mention the stalkers and those customers that become obessed with you. That type of things forces you to find different ways to drive home to avoid being followed.

Yea the money is quick and fast but at what cost? There is nothing glitzy or glamourous about the life of an exotic dancer.  Most girls have signed up just to pay there way through college....but several years after graduation they are still stuck in the life.  Why are we setting our little girls up for something like that?  They are worth so much more then this.....Please don't twist my words....I'm NOT saying exotic dancers are worthless....I'm saying we need to teach our girls at a young age how precious they are. What happened to us telling our lil girls how they can be doctors and lawyers and business owners?  Why does it seem like they are being encouraged to be video vixens and hotties on the cover of magazines?

Let's also teach our young boys that women are not objects. The same way they are smackin on some chicks booty or talking explicitly about what they did to some chick......someone could be doing and saying the same thing about their sister or cousin.

Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Be blessed
